A chain trencher is a highly efficient piece of equipment specifically designed for digging narrow, deep trenches. It primarily uses a chain to drive rotating blades to cut the soil and is commonly used in farmland for pipe laying, cable installation, and orchard fertilization. It can create trenches in one pass, making it more efficient than manual labor or ordinary excavators, and causing less damage to the ground surface.
Chain trenchers have a wide range of compatible power sources, ranging from 30 horsepower and above to 60-140 horsepower. The trenching width is typically adjustable from 10-80 cm, and the depth can reach 1.5-1.8 meters. Some models have a trenching width of 16-40 cm and a maximum trenching depth of 180 cm. Its operating speed is relatively fast, reaching 500-700 meters per hour. Specific power (power consumption per unit of work) is an important technical performance indicator in trencher design; orchard trenching operations typically require less than 0.4 kW·h/m³.
