The chain trencher transmits the rotation of the diesel engine in its power system to the reduction gearbox in the reduction system via a four-belt drive. The reduction gearbox drives the main sprocket mounted on the gearbox, which in turn drives the chain that meshes with it. The cutters are mounted on the chain, and under the drive of the power system, the chain drives the cutters to rotate and translate, thus achieving trenching.
The chain trencher mainly consists of a power system, a reduction system, a chain drive system, and a soil-dividing system. Some descriptions also indicate that its structure mainly consists of a drive pulley, a drive shaft, a gearbox, a cutter shaft, and a frame. Its excavation speed is fast, reaching 500-700 meters per hour, increasing construction efficiency by approximately three times compared to traditional excavators, and offering higher work efficiency than manual labor and excavators.
In terms of trenching quality, it can achieve consistent trench depth, uniform width, and adjustable dimensions. The trenches can be as narrow as 10 centimeters and up to 2 meters deep, and are straight with steep walls. To excavate trenches of varying widths, it can be modified into single or double chain models, suitable for trenching operations in various fields such as farmland irrigation canals, gas pipelines, oil pipelines, water pipelines, and underground cable laying. Verification using modern design methods such as finite element analysis shows that the maximum equivalent stress at the critical point of the trenching device is far less than the material's yield strength, and the maximum deformation of the entire structure is very small. Furthermore, the operating frequency avoids its own natural frequency, effectively preventing structural resonance.
